Fine cut compounds are designed to refine paintwork and remove light swirls, holograms, and minor imperfections. Ideal for enhancing gloss and depth, these products deliver professional results whether you’re polishing by hand or machine. Perfect for the final stages of correction, fine cut compounds help restore a smooth, mirror-like finish to your vehicle’s paintwork.
What it is and what it does:
Least aggressive correction: Fine cut compounds are for removing very light defects, unlike cutting compounds that tackle deep scratches and heavy swirl marks
Finishing step: They are typically the last stage in a multi-step paint correction process
High-gloss finish: The goal is to create a smooth, deep, and high-gloss finish, eliminating micro-scratches and holograms left from the previous steps
Not for deep damage: They are not designed for significant defect removal on their own, but to refine the surface after other products have done the heavy work
How to use?
Pre-clean:Start with a clean, dry, and de-waxed surface
Machine application:Apply a small amount to a foam finishing pad and use a dual-action (DA) polisher for the best results
Moderate pressure:Work in small sections with moderate pressure, and gradually reduce pressure as you increase speed for a high-gloss finish
Wipe off:Remove any residue with a clean microfibre cloth
When to use fine cut compounds?
After compounding:It's used after a more aggressive compound has addressed deeper scratches
For minor defects:To remove fine swirl marks and light imperfections left by previous steps
To prepare for protection:To create the perfect, high-gloss surface for applying a sealant or wax
